Instagram will push its commercial potential further with the addition of new advertising tools and an increase in the volume of ads themselves reports reveal.
Specifically, Instagram will roll out “direct response” ads, which allow users to sign up for, buy or install something. Furthermore, advertisers will have access to more information about users from their Facebook profiles, such as interests and “likes”.
Importantly for marketers, the platform is also creating a new Instagram Ads API to make these tools easy to implement, as well as making them accessible through Facebook’s advertiser interface.
