InterVU Inc. in San Diego launched a co-marketing agreement with Macromedia Inc. and said it will support and distribute rich media content on the Internet created and played back with Macromedia’s authoring and software tools.

Under the co-marketing agreement, San Francisco-based Macromedia has granted InterVU the right to use certain Macromedia trademarks in connection with InterVU’s use of Macromedia products, including Macromedia Director, Shockwave, Flash, Fireworks and Macromedia Java Applets technologies. Financial arrangements were not disclosed.

InterVU and Macromedia have also agreed to cooperate with one another on technical matters relating to InterVU’s development of software to manage, distribute and provide end user data reporting for Macromedia advertisements.

InterVU said it will manage and deliver Shockwave, Flash and streaming Java-based rich media applets including online ads using the proprietary InterVU Network.

“InterVU has built a solid network infrastructure to enable effective and reliable rich media delivery on the Internet, and Macromedia has developed a comprehensive set of high performance Web publishing tools for creating and viewing multimedia,” said Don Marzetta, director of marketing at Macromedia. “Working together is a natural step . . .”

Macromedia is also participating in the upcoming series of seminars co-hosted by InterVU and MatchLogic, called “Rich Media Day.” Three day-long seminars, held in late May and June in New York City, Chicago and San Francisco, are planned for advertising and new media professionals.

The seminars will feature a variety of interactive sessions and testing environments to explore and demonstrate strategies, benefits and techniques for using online advertising incorporating rich graphics, video and sound.
