Juno Signs Up 5 Millionth Subscriber

Less than one month after celebrating its second anniversary, ad-backed e-mailfirm Juno Online Services in New York City saidit signed up its five millionth subscriber.

Less than one month after celebrating its second anniversary, ad-backed email firm Juno Online Services in New York City said it signed up its five millionth subscriber.

Launched in April 1996, the Juno service was the first to offer free Internet email, and says it is still the only company to offer free email without requiring subscribers to have Internet access.

Juno claims to be larger than any other dial-up online service except America Online and says it is adding more than 250,000 new members each month.
