IDC Malaysia reports that 2.07 million people had Internet access in Malaysia at the end of 2000, an increase of 1.5 million since 1998. The estimates in the report were partly based on forecasts of PC and Internet device shipments. The current PC penetration rate in Malaysia is 11 percent.
IDC took into account the fact that many Malaysian Internet users use more than one ISP when it compiled the data.
