Headstream, a social agency specialising in digital marketing and brand-promotion, has released their yearly Social Brands 100 report.

Brands have been increasingly utilising social media to their advantage in the past year; 2012 saw just over 300 brands nominated, whereas 2013’s research included over 700 brands.

The research was carried out by measuring brand performing on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube over a six-week period in spring 2013, and surveying a cross-section of participants to pin-point trends in social media.

Results have shown that brands are increasingly using social media when dealing with customer care, as well as for obvious engagement enhancement. The most successful brands in the survey engaged in social media with their customers across a range of platforms.

Every brand included in the Social Brand 100 is active on Facebook, with 99% present on Twitter and 94% on YouTube.

The ten top-spots in the survey were revealed as:

1. Electronic Arts (Battlefield) – Entertainment
2. American Airlines – Travel
3. Lufthansa – Travel
4. Thomson Holidays (TUI) – Travel
5. Thomas Cook UK – Travel
6. Innocent – FMCG
7. Argos – Retail
8. SEAT Mexico – Automotive
