Belgian beer Stella Artois has launched Le Bar Guide 2.0, an app it says serves as “a personal concierge for discriminating revelers” by offering bars based on a user’s mood.
Available moods include Relaxed, Spirited, Lively and Party and are determined by Foursquare and Yelp reviews. Once a user selects a desired atmosphere, Le Bar Guide finds nearby locations with GPS.
Bars can also be sorted by additional criteria including price, proximity and rating. In addition, Le Bar Guide’s recommendations become more intuitive over time as consumers add new bars and share ratings and feedback.
Le Bar Guide also allows users to rate how well a bar performs the brand’s nine-step pouring ritual. Stella says it is best enjoyed between 3 and 5 degrees Celsius and should be served in a chalice according to the aforementioned pouring ritual.
What’s more, Stella says Le Bar Guide can call a taxi with a single click at the end of the night.
Le Bar Guide is available on iTunes. The brand says it plans to release an Android version in the coming months.
The app is available in the U.S. where state law allows. Per iTunes, states with restrictions include: Arkansas, Arizona, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, New Mexico, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
Stella says it plans to roll out Le Bar Guide in global markets, including the U.K., Brazil, Canada, Argentina, Australia and Belgium.
A Stella rep was not available for comment.
“Le Bar Guide serves as a premium service to help consumers find the perfect bar environment for the perfect night out, and is a natural next step in crafting the perfect experience for discerning drinkers,” said Pablo Firpo, global marketing director of Stella, in a prepared statement.
Stella says it is part of a Belgian brewing tradition dating to 1366 and is available in over 80 countries.
