With more than just a sarcastic nod to Amazon’s announcement regarding its new Prime Air service, Waterstones has been quick to release a video about its own “Ornithological Waterstones Landing Service”, comprised of a fleet of specially trained delivery owls. Oh, Hedwig, we knew you’d become a reality eventually!
According to Jon Howells, or “Jon Owls” as he appears on the video, Waterstones PR and brand communications manager, the ‘adorable team’ will work together to deliver customers’ books within 30 minutes of placing an order.
We can’t be 100% sure but that promise sounds suspiciously similar to something else we read today…

Howells explained: “Putting O.W.L.S. into commercial use will take a number of years, because it takes ages for owls to do anything. And we only just thought of it this morning.”
