McCann Erickson’s Detroit office has formed a creative position to focus on nontraditional new media vehicles. Dean Bastian, from the agency’s New York office, will move to the Motor City to become director of creative development.
Bastian’s job will be to seek out brand-building creative ideas from across McCann Worldgroup for Detroit clients, specifically concentrating on new media vehicles. The company didn’t elaborate on the types of media that would be represented, and representatives weren’t available to comment before press time.
“Dean is what I call a freethinker,” said Dave Moore, EVP and chief creative officer at McCann in Detroit. “The guy’s been thinking nontraditionally and media-agnostically since way before those phrases became the clichés they are today.”
McCann’s Detroit office services accounts such as Buick Motor Division, General Motors, Chevrolet, Delphi, and Capital One.
Before heading to Detroit, Bastian was SVP, group creative director at McCann in New York. He’s served stints at JWT, Ogilvy & Mather, and Foote Cone & Belding.
