Mobile E-Commerce on the Rise in India [Study]

Google, Facebook, and YouTube are the top domains consumers in India visit via their mobile phones, according to Opera Software.

Consumers in India prefer to shop via their mobile phones – with Quickr, Amazon, and Flipkart being the most popular sites in the country, based on year-on-year September stats from Opera Software.

The mobile web browser company reported that India held the top spot globally for the highest number of monthly Opera Mini users worldwide.

While news portal sites continue to dominate mobile surfers in India, e-commerce has grown to become the second largest category in the list of top Indian domains.

Here’s a list of the top 15 e-commerce sites that mobile users in India visited in September.

The report also stated that users in India are increasingly visiting travel sites via their mobile phones including travel-booking sites MakeMyTrip, Yatra, and Cleartrip.

Google, Facebook, and YouTube Dominate Mobile Users in India

When on their mobile phones, users in India would most likely visit Google, Facebook, and YouTube making these international sites the top three most visited domains in the country.

The top three domains signify the importance of search and social media in India, the report noted. Meanwhile, cricket and websites such as Mobile9 and Zedge, which offer mobile users to customize their devices with wallpapers and ringtones, are among the popular domains in the country.

The report also featured an interactive map that provides a detailed breakdown of the top 10 international domains, local domains, and mobile devices of India from various regions.
