London-based mobile marketing and technology firm 2ergo has acquired Australian mobile services agency Wapfly Technologies as it looks to extend its business globally. Based in Sydney, Wapfly specializes in mobile application and site development, alongside content management, SMS, and mobile payment solutions.
Neale Graham, 2ergo’s joint CEO, placed emphasis on the acquisition of Wapfly’s applications team and its experience with platforms such as Google Android and Apple iPhone, but added that both businesses would offer each other competitive advantages. “We have been looking to invest in the region for some time and this deal provides a platform for further investment and the growth of 2ergo in Asia Pacific,” Graham said.
Wapfly’s clients have included Condé Nast, Motorola, and an ongoing contract with major Australian broadcaster ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), for which 2ergo will now be responsible. Wapfly’s work for the broadcaster has already involved development of an iPhone application, region specific mobile sites, and ad-supported streaming video and audio capabilities.
2ergo itself focuses on technologies for mobile marketing, customer relationship management and entertainment and media applications. Clients have included Yahoo, O2, Microsoft, FOX News and AT&T.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
