NetCreations Inc. was selected by internet.com LLC in to build and manage an opt-in email list for Internet news and analysis aimed at IT professionals and Web developers.
As an additional resource to the millions of Internet professionals and technology decision-makers who visit its site, internet.com will post registration forms on its pages to enable signups for relevant opt-in email lists that will be managed by NetCreations. Financial arrangements were not disclosed.
According to internet.com’s most recent user survey, 83 percent of its visitors are involved in the purchase of products and services for their organizations and more than 70 percent have purchased online.
The internet.com names will be made available only to direct marketers who send out offers for products and services specifically requested by internet.com visitors when they register to join the site’s targeted email lists. When visitors register for a list, they check a box next to a category, such as e-commerce or Web development, that matches their needs and interests. Visitors can “opt out,” or remove themselves from these lists, at any time.
“internet.com reaches some of the Internet’s most qualified and responsive high-tech decision-makers,” NetCreations President Rosalind Resnick said. “By working with internet.com, we’ll be able to offer business and consumer marketers a large and responsive pool of Internet professionals who are eager to receive their offers.”
NetCreations will store internet.com’s email addresses in its Web database, provide email delivery and merge/purge services, and offer the lists for rental through its PostMaster Direct Response online marketplace. The internet.com lists will initially rent for 20 to 25 cents a name, including list rental, email distribution and merge/purge.
“We were very impressed with the measures Net Creations takes to ensure that users enroll voluntarily in the lists which they manage,” said internet.com Chairman Alan M. Meckler.
