San Mateo, CA-based NetGravity, a provider of online marketing and advertising management solutions, named Eric W. Spivey, 38, as president and chief executive officer.
John Danner, 32, co-founder and former chief executive officer, will continue in as chairman, “enabling him to focus on expanding the company vision and guiding NetGravity’s industry initiatives,” the company said.
Most recently Spivey served as chairman and chief executive officer of Netcom On-Line Communications Services, Inc., where he was responsible for $165 million in revenue and a customer base of more than 500,000. He was promoted to that position from chief operating officer after Netcom was acquired by ICG Communications Inc. in January 1998. Netcom has since been sold to ISP MindSpring Enterprises Inc.
“Eric’s experience managing and leading organizations in both the Internet services and data industries is a perfect fit with NetGravity’s vision for interactive marketing,” said Danner.
Prior to being chairman and CEO at Netcom, Spivey served as president of Netcom International. Prior to joining Netcom in January 1996, Spivey held senior positions with Dun & Bradstreet and AC Nielsen for more than a decade in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
