New CMO for Cendant’s Orbitz, CheapTickets

Travel player Cendant has named former McDonald’s exec Randy Wagner as CMO for its consumer travel businesses in the Americas. Those include such heavy online advertisers as Orbitz, CheapTickets and

“This is a great time to develop compelling brand experiences for customers in the dynamic online travel space,” Wagner said in a statement.

Wagner previously served as corporate VP of strategic global brand marketing for McDonald’s. Prior to that she worked on the fast food company’s account at Leo Burnett.

Of the Cendant brands Wagner will be stewarding, Orbitz, especially, has consistently been a strong online advertiser. In February, the company bought 1.2 billion impressions, which accounted for 1.5 percent of total ad impressions online, according to Nielsen//NetRatings.

Wagner wasn’t available to discuss what role online advertising will play in the brands’ future.
