New research conducted by Velti, in partnership with Econsultancy, has revealed interesting new stats about mobile phone usage in the UK and beyond.

The report, entitled ‘Mobile Whitebook 2013; Data, Trends and Best Practice‘ discusses mobile marketing in the UK, and offers insights on how digital marketers can further enhance their mobile presence.

Highlighting a Nielsen report that revealed there is now a 97% mobile phone penetration in the UK, with 64% of these being ‘smartphones’, the research also draws on data from Endsleigh, which reports that 24% of respondents believe that losing their phone would be detrimental to their mental health.

As well as this, tablet penetration in the UK has doubled since 2011, highlighting the increasing importance of companies and brands to ensure their websites are mobile and platform ready.
