One Club Honors Interactive Agencies

Nicholson NY won two Gold Pencil awards from The One Club for Art & Copy, the organization known for encouraging excellence in advertising through the annual One Show Awards.

Quantum Leap in Chicago was awarded the Gold Pencil in the Banner Link category for a breaking news banner developed for MSNBC. Quantum Leap developed this Java-based dynamic news delivery system based on proprietary software. These banners allow MSNBC editorial staff to update headlines instantly as often as they wish.

Nicholson’s awards were for a series of interactive banner advertisements the agency developed for IBM’s Internet Solutions campaign and for Nicholson’s own 1997 interactive holiday card.

Best Web site went to American Honda Motor Co. by Rubin Postaer Interactive in Santa Monica, CA.

Judging criteria for One Show Interactive included concept–creativity of the idea behind the work and the innovative application of technology toward its end; graphic design–all aspects of visual presentation, such as color, type design and page layout; and information architecture–ease of navigation and the degree to which the structure effectively achieved its purpose.

The One Club for Art & Copy, based in New York, was founded in 1975 and is a not-for-profit organization designed to maintain the highest standards of creativity in advertising. Its 900 members include many of advertising’s most respected art directors and copywriters, as well as students of advertising.

The One Club sponsors lectures, seminars, exhibitions and scholarships, and publishes one, a quarterly magazine for the creative community.
