The Web Marketing Association Best of Show Web Award was presented to Organic Inc. for its work on the Philips Home Theater Web site.
CKS Partners won more 1997 WebAwards than any other interactive firm with three Best of Industry WebAwards and five Outstanding Web Site awards for its work on behalf of clients.
More than 200 sites were entered in the competition. Entries were judged based on design, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, ease of use, and use of technology.
The Philips site’s mission was to create a multimedia home theater destination that delivers a “taste” of the immersive experience of the DVX 8000 while also delivering important product information and support a print ad campaign.
A complete list of all the winning sites can be found at the WebAwards site.
“Winners of the 1997 WebAwards represent some of the best interactive design shops and in-house corporate departments working to extend their brands to the Internet,” said William Rice, president of the Web Marketing Association.
“Marketing on the Internet is a competitive environment and simply being there is not enough. The WebAwards winners combined design, innovation and technology to help their companies or clients meet specific marketing objectives.”
There are three award levels: Best of Industry, Outstanding Web Site, and Standard of Excellence in addition to the Best of Show WebAward. The competition was judged by a team of independent Internet professionals representing the various relevant disciplines of Web site development. Judges included members of the media, advertising executives, site designers, corporate marketing executives, content providers, and Webmasters.
Companies winning multiple Best of Industry WebAwards include: Cohn Godley Norwood (Stein Roe Mutual Funds and Liberty Financial Young Investor), CKS Partners (Audi of America, E-Photo, and Visa Rankit), GTE (Super Pages Interactive Service and GTE Internetworking), Lighthouse Interactive (United Way of Allegheny County and Pittsburgh Convention and Visitors Center), and Shandwick (Northwest Airlines, Insituform Technologies and Eastman Kodak).
The competition’s Web site is sponsored by NetEvents, Broadvision and PRNewswire.
