New York City-based ad network Real Media Inc. has been appointed exclusive representative for consumer advertising for Physicians’ Online (POL), described as the world’s largest online community of doctors.
Real Media will offer POL as part of its “SELECT” portfolio of high-profile, national branded sites. Among the other SELECT sites represented exclusively by Real Media are: Lexis-Nexis (attorneys), American City Business Journals (small business owners) and Academic Universe (college students).
“Adding Physicians’ Online to its mix gives Real Media advertisers an unprecedented opportunity to reach an upscale, physician-only audience,” said David Morgan, Real Media co-founder and president.
“We have chosen Real Media for their proven track record in bringing upscale advertisers to the Web and their in-depth understanding of the Internet advertising marketplace,” said David Richards, Physicians’ Online president and CEO.
Real Media operates a network of more than 550 locally branded media (mostly newspaper) Web sites that can be aggregated on a regional, national or international level. In addition, Real Media provides of ad management technology and software, including its Open AdStream product.
Physicians’ Online is a privately held company based in Tarrytown, NY. Launched in February 1994, it provides a secure, physicians-only environment featuring access to medical databases, clinical symposia with peers and national experts, daily medical news, recruiting services, private email accounts and Internet access.
