Spree.com launched a promotion with Wired Digital’s HotBot Shopping Directory that it said may well send an estimated 6 million visitors to the Internet retailer’s site.
Under the agreement, Spree.com becomes the top movie, consumer electronics and long distance phone service marketer on the shopping directory. Spree.com will also become the leading promoter of free, unlimited-sized Web sites on the HotBot search site, and Wired Digital’s Web development resource sites, Webmonkey and Web 101.
In addition, Spree.com is developing a free gift reminder service for HotBot Shopping Directory users which is slated to launch this week. Financial arrangements were not disclosed.
“Spree.com’s superstores will provide our users with a wide range of quality products at deep discounts, and a great reminder service, so I don’t forget my wedding anniversary,” said Rick Boyce, Wired Digital’s senior vice president of advertising sales and commerce.
Anyone can get Spree.com’s free Web site with unlimited space with just one click, from Web 101 and WebMonkey, the company said, where Web hobbyists and professionals can learn the latest Web development and marketing tips and tricks. As Spree Independent Partners (S-I-Ps), users can earn commissions on every purchase they make and lifetime commissions on every purchase made by their visitor to their sites.
Spree Independent Partners receive free marketing promotions and banners and complementary product lines including movies, music, books, flowers, gifts and coffee, secure transactions and search engine services. Spree.com said it runs the store, and the S-I-Ps own it.
“No other retailer or affiliate program offers its visitors and members a free Web site with unlimited space and no other program offers the variety of product lines,” said Lance Roncalli, Spree.com’s vice president of business development.
Spree.com is a Web marketplace with stores selling books, music, movies, and flowers; and specialty shops featuring brand-name electronics, gifts, and coffee and tea. Through an exclusive partnership with the PGA Tour, Spree.com also offers golf apparel and merchandise.
