Banyan Systems Inc., a provider of networking software and services, said that Douglas A. McIntyre, president of its Switchboard Inc. subsidiary, has resigned for personal reasons.
Dean Polnerow, vice president, product and business development, and a founder of Switchboard, will assume McIntyre’s responsibilities and work closely with William P. Ferry, Banyan’s chairman and chief executive officer.
Switchboard, Banyan’s majority-owned subsidiary, is an Internet directory service with more than 120 million people and business listings. According to Media Metrix, the PC Meter Company, Switchboard was the Internet’s 10th most frequently visited Web site in both January and February, averaging more than one million visits per day.
“Doug joined our subsidiary in May 1997 with the primary objective of accelerating Switchboard’s advertising sales. During the third quarter of 1997, Switchboard assembled an effective direct sales force, led by Maurice Casey, Switchboard’s vice president of sales,” said Ferry.
“This sales team has added leading Internet advertisers such as AT&T, American Express, Barnes & Noble, IBM and Microsoft to its growing list of Fortune 1000 advertisers. As a result of these efforts, we anticipate that Switchboard’s revenue for the first quarter of 1998 alone will exceed the $700,000 reported for all of 1997.”
