Online buying activity decelerated in January after the holiday rush, with Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com maintaining their top positions, according to PC Data Online’s list of the top 20 e-tailers of January.
Debuting at No. 9 in January was shopintuit.com, which had 245,000 projected buyers, and sells Quicken’s financial management software, such as Turbo Tax.
“Remove Amazon.com from the equation and you had a very tight, competitive marketplace in January among top e-tail sites,” said John Megahed, director of research and analysis for PC Data. “At the same time, the emergence of Quicken’s shopintuit.com among the top 10 demonstrates that there is room on the Web for new e-commerce faces, especially in light of demand for a popular, seasonal product.”
