Top U.S. Parent Companies and Stickiest Brands on the Web, February 2006

The most-visited corporations and brands on the Web by users at home and at work.

 

Internet users at home and at work rank 25 of the top parent companies and stickiest brands. Nielsen//NetRatings tracked the brands with the highest number of unique visits and time spent on their sites.

Microsoft, Yahoo, Time Warner (which owns AOL), Google and eBay each garner the most unique visits on the Web, with the first three getting hits in the six figures. The most time is spent on Time Warner properties, while Google maintains the shortest length for average visits out of the top four parent companies.

Many brands aim to be sticky. The 10 stickiest are PokerStars.com, AOL, fanification.net and Juno Online Services. PokerStars.com held on to visitors an average 18 hours per month. On average, AOL kept users on its site for a third that time, but attracted over 73 thousand visitors. Yahoo scored lower on the time spent list, but registered 102,165 unique visitors.

Nielsen//NetRatings uses a sampling methodology through its MegaPanel of Internet users.
