Twitter Seeks Political Sales Execs in Washington, D.C.

Hires will develop Twitter's business with political advertisers and agencies.

There appears to be growing interest in Twitter advertising from political and advocacy advertisers. The company is seeking two new account execs in its Washington, D.C. office. According to Twitter’s corporate site, the firm is looking for a full-time account executive and a full-time account manager in D.C., where it has a small office dedicated to public policy and political ad sales.

The future hires will be tasked with developing Twitter’s business with advertisers and agencies, according to job descriptions on the Twitter site.

In November, Twitter fortified its Washington team with the addition of Mindy Finn, a Republican digital strategist and a veteran of the Romney ’08 and Bush ’04 presidential runs. Finn joined as head of strategic partnerships, working alongside former Google political ad sales head Peter Greenberger, now Twitter’s political ad sales lead.

Twitter opened its ad platform to political advertisers in September. Since then, ads from Mitt Romney and Rick Perry have turned up on Twitter, including in Twitter search results.
