Andromedia Inc. said Vignette Corp., a provider of Web content application systems, will resell to its customers ARIA, Andromedia’s Web site activity analysis software, in conjunction with Vignette’s StoryServer 3 Web Content Application System.
“Both Andromedia and Vignette sell software solutions to high-end, corporate enterprises where content management goes hand-in-hand with real-time Web activity analysis to transform the process by which organizations build and manage effective, results-oriented online businesses,” said Brad Husick, vice president of business development for Austin, TX-based Vignette. “This agreement enables Vignette to now offer enterprise customers the ‘best of both worlds.'”
“The agreement further solidifies our close working partnership with Vignette and greatly broadens the channels of distribution for ARIA and puts it at the forefront of the Web site development process,” said Mark Brewer, vice president of sales for San Francisco-based Andromedia.
“Vignette customers are advanced, cutting-edge content sites that want ARIA’s real-time activity analysis to better understand site activity and use it as a feedback loop to deliver continually improving customer experiences.”
ARIA customers include Sony, Total Sports, Colgate-Palmolive, EarthLink Network, and Cyberian Outpost.
ARIA tracking and reporting helps to maximize the return on marketing spending by measuring the results of each Web campaign and increasing visitor retention by improving site design, Andromedia says.
ARIA has been optimized to track the dynamic content served by StoryServer. In September 1997, the two companies announced a strategic partnership to focus on joint marketing and joint sales efforts.
Vignette’s flagship product, StoryServer 3, enables companies to build, manage, and deliver service-based applications such as online publishing, customer self-service, and sophisticated e-commerce systems.
More than 75 companies, including Ziff-Davis’ ZDNet, First Chicago NBD, Bay Networks, and CNET, use StoryServer 3 to serve a combined 25 million page views per day, the company said.
