Facebook’s new iPad app will not include ads for the time being, the Palo Alto, CA-based social giant told ClickZ News today.
"There are no ads on the iPad app at this time," Facebook spokesperson Annie Ta said via an email. When pressed further about a possible timetable, she replied, "We have no plans at this time."
It’s worth noting that Facebook’s smartphone apps for iPhone and Android haven’t been monetized with ads yet, nor is the company serving ads against browser-based mobile traffic on smartphones.
But with high-end marketers’ interest in tablet ads only growing, it would seem logical that Facebook will waste little time offering advertisers regular placements on its iPad app. Automotive, financial services, and luxury brands are among the most active segments testing publishers’ iPad apps as advertising platforms.
