Retailers and brands looking to maximise sales during the winter holidays will be pleased to hear that a new survey conducted by Barclays has revealed that the increasing popularity of digital devices such as mobiles and tablets means that sales via apps will be boosted this Christmas.
According to the research, more than half (52%) of retailers feel more confident about Christmas trading, with 55% believing figures will be up from 12 months ago.
The ease at which shopping now takes place on digital devices also means that sales will continue to flourish even after shops close on Christmas eve, with 65% of retailers believing online traffic will rise by at least 11% since Christmas Day 2012.
Richard Lowe, Head of Retail & Wholesale at Barclays, commented: “Christmas Day may be one of only two days a year when retailers are not physically able to throw open their doors but, that won’t stop consumers bagging sales bargains online. This means more festive cheer for retailers looking to maximise sales during the all-important Christmas period”.
