Cheil USA makes first hires under Lars Bastholm; AKQA promotes Pierre Lipton to ECD.

Cheil USA Makes First Hires Under Bastholm. One month after being named chief creative officer, Lars Bastholm has made his first key appointments, filling two newly created roles. Adam Wohl joins as group creative director and Kaare Wesnaes as director of creative technology. Wesnaes spent six years at AKQA as director of creative development.

AKQA Promotes Pierre Lipton to ECD. He’ll oversee creative in the agency’s San Francisco office, which services Audi of America, Target, Visa, Xbox, and YouTube. Lipton joined in July 2010, earning One Show Pencils for work on Xbox. He’s credited with siphoning talent from CP+B, TBWALondon, Glue Isobar, and other firms. The agency also named a new GM in Shanghai. David Hunt joins from BBDO Proximity China.

Arun Kumar to Run Mediabrands Audience Platform. As president of MAP, Arun will support digital practices including IPG-owned Cadreon, Spring Creek Group, Ansible and Reprise, seeking to extend their reach into the network’s “G14” markets, its 14 most important markets outside North America.

Dojo Creates Digital Campaigns for Lucasfilm, LG. Digital presence for film “Red Tails” includes short films and a first-person flight simulator, recreating what it was like to be a Tuskegee Airman in the 1940s. Meanwhile the agency’s launch campaign for the LG Spectrum phone includes website, digital, TV, and print elements on ESPN properties.

McCann Adds New Discipline: Chief Technology Catalyst. The CTCs will drive tech innovation in the agency’s four operating regions. Leading the charge in North America is Lori Schwartz, a founder of the Interpublic’s Emerging Media Lab. In other regions, Gregory Armshaw will lead in Asia Pacific; Mark Jackson in the UK; and Glauco Yasuda in Latin America.

Organic Taps Rachel Pasqual to Lead Mobile. She was most recently VP of mobile marketing at iCrossing, establishing that agency’s mobile practice. Her role at Organic, executive director of mobile, is a new one. She joins on the heels of another senior appointment, that of Claudia Duch as executive director of strategy.

iVillage Names James Kreckler VP of Ad Sales. He had led digital ad sales at Rodale for the past five years. Earlier he led East Coast sales for Interpolls.
