On May 25, 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) becomes legally binding. Organizations holding EU citizens’ personal data will face fines of up to 4% of global revenue or €20m Euros, for a breach in security or being found guilty of using that data beyond the remit of the stricter new rules.
On the surface, the GDPR sounds like the solution to a modern issue. But people may not realize that the regulation has been a long time coming.
