Why Domino's flooded Twitter with pizza emojis

On Tuesday this week Domino’s served up masses of cryptic pizza emoji-stuffed tweets in, of course, another stunt to promote its everything, everywhere drive.

On Tuesday this week Domino’s served up masses of cryptic pizza emoji-stuffed tweets in, of course, another stunt to promote its everything, everywhere drive.

As if ordering pizza wasn’t easy enough already, starting May 20, Domino’s customers will be able to order pizza via Twitter.

Pizza-lovers can go to Domino’s and register their Twitter handles along with their favourite or most frequent order. Users will have to register credit card details and their home address – and with a quick pizza emoji tweet at the brand – or using the hashtag #EasyOrder – you’ll have an order on the way.

“It’s the epitome of convenience,” Domino’s CEO Patrick Doyle explains to USA Today.

“We’ve got this down to a five-second exchange.”

We wanted to start a conversation about why Domino’s has gone emoji crazy in the lead-up to the emoji announcement,” says Matt Talbot, vp and creative director of Crispin Porter + Bogusky, the agency that handles Domino’s creative business.
