Dorian Sweet has joined the interactive arm of GSI Commerce, gsi interactive, as vice president and executive creative director. Sweet, who had been based in San Francisco, relocated to work in GSI’s King of Prussia, PA, offices, where he will head up a group of 80 to 100 people.
In his new role, Sweet will lead the user experience, design, and studio group. The group includes roughly 80 to 100 people including designers, art directors, interaction designers, and the others within the studio group and usability labs.
Sweet will lead all aspects of strategic design and service offerings at gsi.
Sweet, a long-time ClickZ columnist, was executive creative director at Tribal DDB in San Francisco until April when he exited the agency.
Prior to Tribal DDB, Sweet held key creative roles at itraffic and Agency.com, Modem Media, and BigYellow. Throughout his career, he has worked with numerous clients such as Clorox, Miller Brewing Company, GE, Visa, eBay, British Airways, and others.
Since gsi interactive’s formation two years ago, it has taken an accelerated its recruitment efforts over the past several months. Nick Pahade, who Sweet reports to, joined roughly six months ago as president. Pahade has brought in a number of new executives including Gerry McGoldrick as VP of interactive marketing services. Pahade also hired former Beyond Interaction colleague David Kang as VP of client services.
“It’s a testament that we’re working on some interesting things. I’m excited that we’ve built a great team to enhance the great team we already have,” said Pahade.
