Cannes, France– The brightest lights in tech, media, and marketing have now fully converged on this waterfront city for the global ad bash known as Cannes Lions.
ClickZ’s photos from the festival’s first days reflect the ever more prominent role of interactive in the creative advertising ecosystem. San Francisco digital agency AKQA set up a huge inflatable lion cub outside the Palais to promote the Future Lions awards. Leo Burnett recruiter David Perez – a.k.a. @DavidOnDemand – who is video-streaming his Cannes odyssey while obeying tweeted commands, strutted on Le Croisette showing off a fresh Twitter tattoo. And TED@Cannes brought together such figures as internet theorist Clay Shirky, designer Stefan Sagmeister, and Foursquare founder Naveen Selvadurai for an exclusive event sponsored by Microsoft and Starcom MediaVest Group.
Find our embedded slideshow below. Check back later this week for more photo documentation of the proceedings and parties.
