Ad of the week: Beats by Dre presents Serena Williams, Rise

The who, what and why of our ad of the week. This week, we love Serena Williams' role in Beats by Dre's latest campaign.

Who?

Serena Williams stars in the latest Beats by Dre ad

What?

The ad has the theme of defying haters. Serena Williams wakes up to the pinging of her Apple Watch and walks into her kitchen, where a TV newsreader proclaims that the tennis champion is off her “fearless game.” She goes for a run to the soundtrack of Andra Day’s ‘Rise Up’, passing a series of screens picturing her victories and hardest moments. The commercial ends with Williams at the top of a steep staircase.

Why?

Personal, touching and inspiring.
