Rubicon Project, an LA-headquartered ad tech firm, is ramping up its team in Australia with the recent hire of Jack Huang, including plans to recruit more staff, shortly after making a key hire appointing former Yahoo!7 exec, Adele Hanzlicek as account director for Asia Pacific.
In August 2009, the U.S.-based SSP (supply-side platform) announced its expansion into the region by opening its Asia headquarters in Sydney, Australia to encourage adoption of its ad platform aimed at online publishers and ad networks. It opened an office in Hong Kong a month later but shut down operations after one year.
The recent appointments of Hanzlicek and Huang in Sydney underscore the firm’s renewed commitment to the region.
“Absolutely, we are reinvesting in the region,” said Jay Stevens, VP and GM, International at Rubicon Project.
He added that they have maintained an account management presence in the region, but are ramping up again to accommodate the demand in the market for its automated trading platform.
Following Hanzlicek’s appointment in September, Rubicon has hired Huang as demand manager to work with demand partners in Asia Pacific.
He joins from Mi9, a digital media company based in Australia and joint venture between Microsoft and Nine Entertainment. Huang has also worked at Microsoft Media Network as media and yield lead.
Hanzlicek joined Rubicon from Yahoo!7 and was previously campaign manager at Ninemsn. At Rubicon, she is tasked to work with premium online publishers to increase adoption and manage clients that are already using the company’s real-time trading platform as well as grow a team with local publisher-side experience.
The ad tech firm’s REVV platform is aimed at web publishers to automate and optimize monetization of their digital media ad inventory through real-time bidding to digital ad buyers.
Rubicon works with more than 450 publishers worldwide. In South Asia, the Times of India has been an important client for the company for more than two years now, Stevens revealed.
Its other clients in the region include News Digital Australia, Fairfax, RealEstate.com.au, Oasis, and Bhaskar Group, a major media firm in India.
