Internet Broadcasting Systems Inc. (IBS) on Monday inked a deal with Bell South RealPages.com for a “convergence” advertising effort, combining local television station buys with buys on those stations’ Web sites.

The stations include WPBF (ABC) in West Palm Beach, Fla.; WESH (NBC) in Orlando, Fla; WPLG (ABC) in Miami; WDSU in New Orleans; and WYFF (NBC) in Greenville, S.C.

“With IBS, we get the dual benefits of advertising on-air and online with the dominant local news stations in these markets,” said Beth Suitt, senior advertising manager from BellSouth IntelliVentures.

The idea behind IBS is that these convergence campaigns help local television stations monetize their Web sites, and helps advertisers to more fully reach a geographically-defined audience.
